L'amoureux Oddity 3 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
I have noticed something odd while looking at the L'Amoureux card from the Jodo/Camoin deck. It concerns the colouration between the legs of the young man. Red is depicted twice (towards the beautiful young maiden on the right), and lightblue is used once towards the lady on the left.

Just maybe he seems a little bit more passionately inclined towards the lady on the right, and his feelings are 'cooling off' towards the other. It's possible. I have compared this card with other decks including the Noblet but none of them display this feature.

Maybe someone here can shed more light on this enigma.

But he's giving the dirty eyes to the one on the left.
Maybe right now he wants that one.
Later the colors you see below might make their way up and he'll want the other one.

The ambiguity of this card makes it stretchy and good for readings.

Hello -

Jodorowsky comments upon this blue-sky/red color curiosity. He remarks that it mirrors the polarity of the card, overall, as we see an older and wiser woman on the left who perhaps offers more cultured or spiritual gifts à la sky blue; whereas, on the right, we have a maiden in the red, who offers passion, as in Red District.

Interestingly, this motif is mucked up when the older woman shimmies up to the man and places her hand near his genitals. Whereas, the younger woman touches his heart. Certainly, we see ambivalence here. This card is ambiguous, indeed, and often signifies choice.

Didn't he say that L'Amoureux isn't the people below, or Eros, but the radiance behind Eros? It's impersonal.

Maybe the radiance is actually Agape, with Eros being, well, Eros, and the people below, Amor.

More ambiguity.
